Banyak informasi yang beredar di internet dan forum-forum diskusi wedding yang mengatakan bahwa pernikahan beda agama dapat dilakukan di Bali dan Batam. Artikel ini mencoba meluruskan tentang pernikahan beda agama di Indonesia

Berdasarkan Pasal 2 ayat (1) UU No. 1 Tahun 1974 tentang Perkawinan (UU 1/1974) menyatakan bahwa perkawinan adalah sah, apabila dilakukan menurut hukum masing-masing agamanya dan kepercayaannya. Dan pada Pasal 10 PP No. 9 Tahun 1975 dinyatakan bahwa perkawinan baru sah jika dilakukan di hadapan pegawai pencatat dan dihadiri dua orang saksi. Dan tata cara perkawinan dilakukan menurut hukum masing-masing agamanya dan kepercayaannya. Jadi, UU 1/1974 tidak mengenal perkawinan beda agama, sehingga pernikahan beda agama belum bisa dilakukan di Indonesia.
