bajra-sandi The First Balinese city to welcome the incoming visitor usually Denpasar, which has museum, and art center, and state university (Udayana University). Fourteen kilometers south of the city is the location of Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Denpasar is noted for its temple and statues, many of which stand along the streets and at intersections. At the intersection of Gajah Mada Street near the Puputan town square stands a Catur Muka (Four Faced) statue, which tourist find very interesting.

Bemo in the principal means of transportation in the city, and taxis, colts and datsuns are suitable for longer trips. Unlike other city in Indonesia, Denpasar does not have any “becak” (tricycles).

To meet the need of visitors a great number of hotels and restaurants, large and small, have been built. This medium sized city is often crowded by tourists, both domestic and foreign, Carrying Cameras and taking a snapshots all kind of objects that look strange or exotic. At certain times of the year there are usually more visitors.

There are lots of works of art for sale in Denpasar, art being the main product of the island. Balinese shirts with “Barong” picture in front are usually very popular among young tourists, who often sport them and take them home as a souveniers.

Night life centers around Gajah Mada street, Lokita sari Bazaar, and Kumbasari market. Gajah Mada street in lined with all kinds of shops that cater to the needs of Balinese as well as visitors, and there are a movies theater near to traditional market that we call “Pasar Badung” Badung Market. Pasar Badung is one of the biggest market located in Denpasar almost open for 24 hours. There tourists or visitors can fine really fresh item like; vegetables, fruits, flowers and any daily needs. Pasar Badung separated by a river call “Tukad Badung”
